URI Feinstein Providence Campus, The Puerto Rican Institute for Art & Advocacy and Mayor David Cicilline of the City of Providence presents: MY PUERTO RICO Celebrating Latino Culture September 2 - September 30 with a Gallery Night Reception and Entertainment September 18, 5:00-9:00pm. Puerto Rican Institute of Arts and Advocacy, Inc. State of Rhode Island PRESENTS: The Valleboom! This project arises from an initiative to exchange and merge the Vallenato rhythm of Colombia with the Bomba of Puerto Rico in our first exchange in the Cultural Heritage Center. The ValleBoom project! is an explosive project linking two genres of music between Puerto Rico and Colombia. The ValleyBoom! It is created with Artists chosen for their talents in different areas of teaching and learning. The purpose of this project is to link two communities in Rhode Island that for 2 year have exchanged traditions to bring the best of our people to our communities in RI. Photo: Alfonso Acevedo Providence, Rhode Island: La "Rhode Island State Council on the Arts", (RISCA) envió una misiva, fechada 8 de julio de 2009, a la carismática artista de Warwick en el Folclore Afro-Puertorriqueño Lydia Pérez, para notificarle que fue seleccionada para recibir el Premio "2010 FELLOWSHIP MERIT AWARD IN FOLK ARTS". Este premio se le otorga a los artistas en finas artes para reconocer el arduo trabajo que realizan a través de los años. Se dan dos premios en diferentes rubros, estos son el de "Fellowship" y el de "Fellowship Merit Award".
