While we were in the State House at Governor Chafee's conference to announced the dedication of the National Puerto Rican Parade of New York to Rhode Island, in Puerto Rico we had the same "Protocol" with Enid DeLeon and Osvaldo Castillo wi th the dedication of The National Puerto Rican Parade to the town of Guayanilla. We had the connection uplink between Rhode Island and Puerto Rico, and both proceedings were watched live simultaneously. Puertorriqueños ! A Puerto Rican FIRST ! ! !

A news conference by Governor Lincoln Chafee at 10am on Thursday, March 21st will announce the dedication of the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City to Rhode Island this year. The National Puerto Rican Day Parade has over 80,000 participants with over twice the population of Rhode Island as spectators along its parade route and will be seen on television, cable and internet by over 7 million more PLUS print and radio coverage. Many dignitaries, including congressional, state and local officials and prominent Puerto Ricans (aren't we all?) are expected to be in attendance.  Members of the legendary Puerto Rican 65th Infantry who served in Korea are also expected.  Their valor was chronicled in a recently released documentary movie "The Borinqueneers."
