LYDIA AND YORUBA 2Afro-Puerto Rican (BOMBA) Music and Dance  Performing Arts CompanyLydia “The Bomb of RI” or “The Ambassador of Caribbean Arts” in New England.

Lydia's company, Yoruba2 is an award-winning, nationally renowned, consulting and traditional music and dance group from Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. The group is known for playing genres of music such as bomba, plena, and other rhythms. Lydia offers solo, as well as residency classes and workshop of Bomba and/or Plena for ensemble groups in school programs as integration arts academic development fostering 21st century leaders. Her audiences are introduced to a wealth of information on the culture of Puerto Rico.

Lydia has received the 2000 Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) Fellowship Award, and the 2000 Rhode Island Foundation Fellowship.  In 1998 and 2010, she received the RISCA Traditional Folklore Merit Award.  In 1999 and 2000 she was honored with the American Tradition Award to represent New England in the Southern Arts Federation, as a National artist with the support of National Endowment for the Arts.

Lydia has been the only Artist in Rhode Island to received three Fellowships awards in the same years, State, Regional and National

Lydia has twenty five Awards in Folklore Arts and travels to many parts of the country to express her music and keep her culture alive.

The Puerto Rican Institute for Arts and Advocacy, Inc. in which Lydia is the founder and CEO, was awarded with the RI Foundation Economic and Community Development Award in 2007.
